Description

Original provider: Jacob Levenson Dataset credits: Data provider Dominica Sea Turtle Conservation Organization Originating data center Satellite Tracking and Analysis Tool (STAT) Project partner This project has been funded, in part, by grants from International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). IFAW has been instrumental in the progress of sea turtle conservation on Dominica. Through direct funding of the program and through marine mammal conservation and education in Dominica as part of the Floating Classroom program. A program focused on the conservation of whale species through out the worlds oceans. Project sponsor or sponsor description A grant from Disney's Friends for Change Project Green program gave the satellite tagging program the funding to get off the ground as part of the DomSeTCo/IFAW Floating Classroom Program. Abstract: Dominica Sea turtle Conservation Organization, originally started as ROSTI, has been focused on sea turtle conservation in Dominica. A small island in the Caribbean, Dominica has several sea turtle species nesting on it's beaches. Leatherbacks have been the main focus due tp poaching on the island of adults and nests. DomSeTCO supports patrollers on the main leatherback nesting beaches and has initiated a sea turtle tour program bringing visitors and locals alike to witness sea turtle nesting events on the island. DomSeTCO also participates in IFAW's Floating Classroom Program, bringing sea turtle conservation to the classroom. Supplemental information: Visit STAT's project page for additional information. This dataset is a summarized representation of the telemetry locations aggregated per species per 1-degree cell.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 288 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
