Description
Original provider: UK Royal Navy Dataset credits: United Kingdom Royal Navy Abstract: This dataset includes unclassified incidental sightings of cetaceans from the United Kingdom Royal Navy ships. The dataset is global in coverage. Purpose: The Royal Navy often operates in remote areas and the purpose of collecting this sort of data is to contribute to a better scientific understanding of cetacean distributions, breeding areas, migration routes, etc. By ensuring that Royal Navy personnel keep watch for cetaceans helps them to comply with current risk mitigation measures. Supplemental information: 12/07/06: Observations for Lagenorhynchus acutus (180443: Atlantic white-sided dolphin) that are located in the Southern Hemisphere were replaced with Lagenorhynchus (180441: white-side dolphin)
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,408 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
