Description

Original provider: Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center Foundation Dataset credits: Data provider Virginia Aquarium Research and Conservation Department Originating data center Satellite Tracking and Analysis Tool (STAT) Project partner VAQF is working with U.S. Fleet Forces Command and Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic to track juvenile loggerhead, Kemp’s ridley and green sea turtles using a combination of satellite and acoustic transmitters. Funding for this work is provided by U.S. Fleet Forces Command. VAQF and NAVFAC Atlantic will analyze the telemetry data in order to understand how sea turtles use the Chesapeake Bay and neritic Virginia waters. Abstract: The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center Foundation is conducting health assessment and telemetry research using wild-caught and by-caught loggerhead and Kemps ridley sea turtles. The project goals include comparing rehabilitated and wild animals, developing a relatively fine temporal and spatial scale surface time ratio for abundance estimates, and understanding how near shore and offshore populations interact and utilize the habitat. (NMFS Permit No. 16134) Supplemental information: Visit STAT's project page for additional information. This dataset is a summarized representation of the telemetry locations aggregated per species per 1-degree cell.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 101 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.
